"لابد أن نأخذ الموضوع بكل جدية.. ونسلط الضوء على هذه الظاهرة أكثر !!فدور الداعية.. والخطيب.. يجب ألا يقتصر على التهديد والوعيد من النار.. وتناسي مشاكل المجتمع.. "
"Lesbians" or "Mistrjilat" do not only invade schools and universities, they invade websites like flickr and facebook... you can see many strange images that do not give away their identity, but shows enough to attract people they aspire to form "friendships" with...
We need to overlook the biological cause, because it isn't possible such a large population in Qatar are lesbians purely due to hormone imbalances! Evidence for that comes from how many of those girls grow up to get married... Social factors seem to be the main reason here... and the author doesn't forget to highlight that....
The article claims this "emptiness" is the result of parent's lack of attention or presence in their children's lives. Therefore the girl becomes boyish to seek attention of her parents or people around her.... In other words, she attempts to make up for what the parents (especially the father according to the author) fails to deliver... The article continues to blame parents by saying the parent's fail to notice such boyish behavior or overlook it, allowing it to grow into more than just a phase...
BUT, what about the schools? It seems the author thinks the only problem with the schools is that it provides negative peer influence.s.. Or that it doesn't terrify the students enough about going to hell..... If anything, I think that's quite the opposite... I think the schools have over done it!
Lets start by looking first at the fact that schools are segregated! They do not allow a healthy atmosphere or model the healthy relationship between boys and girls. Instead they go on misleading the children about the monstrous male, lurking in the corner looking for a foolish girl to trick! A girl that will go to hell if she attempts to contact them monsters... How do you expect a girl to have a healthy sexuality when she fears the opposite sex? Who does she turn when her bodies hormones start acting out???? Does she have an option??
If there is anything one need to points out about the 'Mistrjilat" in Qatari schools, or on forums and social networks, it's that they are the result of our education system.... the parents themselves are the victims of such education system! Any psychologist will tell you that segregated schools and teaching the opposite sexes to fear one another is sexual identity massacring! I have come in contact with many girls that think it is a sin to be feminine, as it would make you a sheep in the middle of wolves!
So if you want to prevent this then get to the bottom of it instead of scaring the girls when it comes to males! Teach both boys and girls to respect one another, model for them a healthy environment where a man works with a woman and she isn't being preyed like a sheep, she isn't being sent to hell for saying "Hi.. I hope your well" to a colleague of hers... Teach them that there is nothing wrong with being a women and on the contrary she should discover her sexuality and not be ashamed of doing so! As for parents, it's time they stopped believing that all the boys are out there to get their girls!!
I really hope when people talk abut this phenomena they would stop talking about Hell and Heaven.. and instead look at the problems in our schools!
